Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 417's Website
We're glad you stopped by to visit! This site is designed to introduce
you to our troop, and scouting in general. Troop 417 is a boy led troop
utilizing Baden Powel's patrol method. Our charter organization
is the Upper Arlington Lutheran Church,
located at 2300 Lytham Road in Columbus, Ohio. UALC also sponsors cub scout Pack 417 and
a number of non-scouting services to the community.
We are currently revamping our website to better serve our troop and
you, our web visitors. Please be patient, and let us know of any problems
with the site.
- Here are a few highlights about our troop:
- A Boy Led Troop
-
While every troop claims to be 'Boy Led,' Troop 417 truly is. Our
PLC (Patrol Leaders Council) is led by the Senior Patrol Leader, and
is responsible for the troop's meetings, curriculum, and policies.
It's their show, and they run it.
- Utilizing the Patrol Method
-
Scouting revolves around patrols. They consist of 8 - 12 boys, and are the backbone of scouting.
The patrol method encourages boys to work together as a team. A healthy troop will have several
patrols to allow both cooperative and competitive opportunities. We embrace the patrol method
and have 5 patrols.
- Active Year Round
-
We are a busy troop and have a campout every month of the year, as well as single day activities.
- We Have Fun!
-
Rocketry, summer camp, canoeing... the list is endless. Basicaly, if it's fun, we do it!
